The Last Rose - Philosophical Drama Analysis
The genre which I've chose to analyse is a Philosophical Drama called, The Last Rose.
The Last Rose doesn't contain any dialogue, which I think is used effectively to make the audience pay more attention to the actions of the film, and the shots used. I think the non diegetic sound was used very effectively and the music linked in well with the emotions which were linked in with the short film.
Traditional conventions of dramas contain love or conflict. This short film portrays emotions of love as we see the male character holding a rose for the women we assume he loves and roses are typically given to a loved one. The fact this genre links in to McQuail's theory as it has its own conventions which makes it sell well as a Philosophical drama. This theory is saying that each genre audience has its own characteristics which is what makes the film sell as it targets those specific individuals.
