Location - The Party Scene

This is the location which we've chosen to shoot the party scene of the short film. These Scenes will be shot on Friday 27th November. This location will be used to create an ideal atmosphere for a house party, the filming will be on going during an actual party so people whom aren't in the script will be used as background party goers.

The inside of the house is an ideal location as there are small enclosed rooms, this is perfect as we're trying to create a seemingly cramped atmosphere for the party, this will be further enhanced with the use of diegetic sound. As the rooms are enclosed from one another this is perfect as each room has its individual light source meaning lighting wont be an issue here.

Inception - Film Poster Review

First initial impressions from this film poster is the red bold text "Inception". The red text suggests great power or fear, in some cases it can also refer to love and passion, the fact it's in bold text reinforces the thoughts which are orientated around this colour even more. Inception suggests the beginning of something new or a new organisation of some sort. Leonardo Dicaprio's name is written clearly along the top of the poster standing out from all the other cast members, the producers of this film clearly want the audience of this poster to see Leonardo Dicaprio's name initially as he's the most famous cast member. This is used as a good selling point for the film.

In the background we can see the road they're standing on bends upwards and so do the buildings alongside it. This gives the image somewhat of a mind altering aspects to this film as these sort of physics are clearly unrealistic, this can also give the audience and understanding that all is not settled and

The poster shows 6 people standing cautiously with them all holding some sort of weapon and this shows they're looking at something possibly scary and daunting to them. The main colour in the poster is blue, this is often associated with depth and stability. This partially links in with the film as there is many layers of depth within it, and stability is something which it looks as though they are creating amongst them selves standing together almost like a defensive shield.

This is our first film poster, so we could amend it if we feel as though they're needed. We've used a still from the footage which shows the main character Matt who's taken an ecstasy pill at his friends house party. This shot we've used shows two groups of people either side of him drinking and in a normal state of mind. We've used this shot as it shows our main character when the ecstasy initially hit's him, he's shown to be slightly uneasy and not sure what to expect and experiencing slight nausea.

The text we've used in the background is a neutral colour partnered with a smooth and causal font.

It’s not all about Lucy

Two young male characters are shown through a long shot walking down a busy street at night in a built up area. They are laughing and smiling and this is audibly shown through diegetic speech. The camera changes to a free hand close up of the pair stopping and continuing their conversation, clearly they are drunk through their expression and voice.

Matt: It’s... It’s fucking sick mate.

Simon: You what?

Matt: It’s all fucking… sick mate.

Simon: You’re fucked mate

He laughs and the pair continues to walk through an over the shoulder shot.

Matt: I fucking love you

Simon: I know mate I know

The screen straight cuts to black and the title is shown through white text, non-diegetic music (Show me love by Robin S) builds as the black screen straight cuts to the pair sitting in a bus shelter, Matt is eating a kebab while his brother is clearly more sober. The music fades but is still heard as an underlay. The brother sings quietly.

Simon: Coz baby if you want me… you got to show me love.

He turns to look at Matt

Simon: Words are so easy to say oh I.

Matt joins in quietly with a hint of confusion in his voice.

Matt and Simon: But you’ve got to show me love. Heartbreaks and promises I’ve had more than my share, I’m tired of giving love and getting nowhere, what I need is somebody who really cares, I really need a lover, a lover that wants to be there.

The volume and their passion for the song increases as they turn to each other and start smiling.

Matt and Simon: Coz baby if you want me! You got to show me love! Words are so easy to say oh I! You’ve got to show me love!

The sound cuts and there is a straight cut to the pair sitting next to each other on a night bus. The bus is more or less empty; they are shown through a mid-shot. Simon is looking out of the window while Matt rolls a cigarette. Still looking down, Matt speaks.

Matt: You going Michaela’s?

Simon: S’that tonight?

Matt: Yeah

Simon: Nah I can’t be fucked, are you?

Matt: Yeah, Lucy’s gonna be there.

Simon smiles and shakes his head.

Simon: Don’t be back too late or mum’s gonna kick off again.

Matt: Nah I won’t.

The camera changes to a close up of Matt, he looks as if he is about to say something but he can’t bring himself to do it.

Matt: I bought this.

A close up shows an ecstasy pill in a see through bag in Matt’s hand. A close up shows Simon turning to look at him.

Simon: You’re fuckin mad.

Matt remains silent.

Simon: Is it safe?

Matt: Of course it’s-

Simon: Is. It. Safe?

Matt: Yes mate

Simon: Good, only take half yeah?

Matt: Yeah.

A mid shot behind the pair shows them leaving the bus, the shot shows them speaking.

Simon: Be safe yeah?

Matt: Yeah?

Simon taps him on the arm and walks away to the right.

Simon: See ya tomorrow.

Matt remains silent.

A low angle close up shows him taking the whole pill and swallowing it with a hint of doubt in his face. The mid shot shows him walking out of shot in the opposite direction to Simon.

A straight cut reveals Matt sitting on a sofa alone at the party, there are people either side of him talking, drinking and smiling. He takes in a deep breath and gets up and walks out of shot. A medium shot shows him enter the dining room of the house, he sees his friend Smally, they clasp hands as Smally rises out of his seat.

Smally: You alright mate, didn’t realise you were coming

Matt: Nah man I changed my mind

Smally: You alright dude, your eyes are fucking huge

A close up of Smally’s ear shows Matt leaning in to whisper.

Matt: I took a pill

The shot returns to a mid-shot

Smally: Mate you are gonna be loving life

They clasp hands again

Smally: Make sure you drink plenty of water yeah

Smally taps Matt on the back and leaves

Smally: Talk later mate

A close up of Matt reveals him standing still staring past the camera as if his mind is in a completely different place, the background music and conversation becomes a muffle and his head begins to move side by side.

A sudden straight cut shows Matt standing in the living room with some mates through a medium shot; he looks a lot happier and alert, holding a beer. Straight cut to a close up of Matt.

Matt: I fucking love you guys!

His mates stop the conversation and cheer loudly through a medium shot. A close up shows Matt smiling.

A straight cut shows Matt in the garden with his friend Jake. The night has progressed since we last saw him and he is chatting away in an uncontrollable manner.

Matt: It’s like everything fucking stopped you know. I just hit it and it flew in like a bullet, you should have been there mate it was mad. I’m so happy Lucy saw it she must have been –

Jake: You really like her don’t you

Matt pauses for a moment and nods.

Matt: Yeah

Jake: Go talk to her

Matt: Nah man later

With more encouragement

Jake: Go talk to her

Matt: Mate

Jake: You’ll hate yourself if you don’t, go talk to her

A straight cut shows Matt talking to Lucy through a medium shot. She is laughing while he continues to talk at an insane speed.

Matt: I couldn’t believe it, Smally was there and we just looked at each other and legged it. You couldn’t believe it happened, so many roadmen it was mad.

Lucy laughs

Matt: You’ve never seen so many roadmen in all your life it was like a movie or someth-

Smally comes over and sits up close to Lucy with his arm around her, she ignores Matt and is now engaged with Smally. Matt stops, sighs to himself and leaves.

A close up shows Matt’s face as he walks down a dimly lit street, his expression is blank; he seems tired with his situation. A straight cut shows this continued expression on another night bus, he sits alone. A wide shot shows him putting a key into his door and walking in.

A straight cut from inside Simon’s bedroom shows him asleep on his bed with the covers over him. Matt enters and Simon wakes. A close up shows Simon’s face, he can barely open his eyes.

Simon: What fucking time is it?

Matt looks like a child who is about to cry.

Matt: You were right about her.

Simon sighs and opens up his duvet as Matt climbs in. It is a scene reminiscent of their childhood and definitely not the first time Simon has had to console his brother in this way. A high angle shot shows both of their faces looking up at the ceiling with a neutral expression.

Matt: I fucking love you

Simon: I know mate, I know
